"Gone, But Not Forgotten"
Daniel W. Burgess, son of William and Elizabeth Burgess, was Born February 7, 1845, and died February 23, 1920,age 75 years, 2 weeks and 3 days

He was married to Malinda Bass July 15, 1866. To this union nine children were born, four sons and five daughters, six of whom with the companion and mother survive him.

Brother Burgess professed faith in Christ a number of years ago, but was not fully satisfied spiritually until about four years ago he made a full surrender to his Lord and united with the First Baptist Church at Mitchell, where he remained a member until death.

He enlisted as a volunteer soldier in the Civil War April 15, 1862, in Company G,50th Infantry, and received an honorable discharge April 1865, returning later to Mitchell where he spent most of his remaining years, among friends and family. He was a kind husband and father, very devoted to all.

He leaves his loving companion, two sons and four daughters, John Burgess, Louisville, Ky; Milton Burgess, of Mitchell; Lillie King, of Brownsburg; Jennie Flora, Mitchell; Stella Phipps, Mitchell; Lizzie Ganote, Frankfort, Ky; seventen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, who keenly feel the loss of a husband, father and grandfather, but we believe the loss is his eternal gain.
