				Spanish War Veteran
				Milton Burgess Passes

   Spanish american war veteran Milton Burgess died at 9:10 p.m. 
Saturday at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Marion where he
had been admitted the day before. He was a resident of Route , ? 
Mitchell.
   He was a native of Lawrence County, the son of Daniel and Malinda
Bass Burgess. He was born September 7, 1877. He had been an
employee of the old Leheigh Lime Company at Mitchell several years ago.
   He was united in marriage with Miss Eula Richardson on September
30, 1902 and she survives. Surviving with the widow are six sons,
Cecil of Kokomo, Clyde, Solon, Kermit and Dennis all of Mitchell and 
Vernon of Worthington; two daughters Mrs. George Vaught of
Mitchell and Mrs. Leo Stalcup of Worthington; 22 grandchildren and 
21 great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs. Stella Phipps of Huron.
   Mr. Burgess was a member of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion 
Post 250 of Mitchell, which accorded him final military rites.
   Funeral services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Haverly 
Mortuary, with the reverend K. Jack Hett pastor of the First 
Presbyterian Church and Rev. Otto L. Duncan, officiating.
  Burial was in Mitchell Cemetary under direction of Haverly 
Mortuary.
